Get To Know Our World Class Instructors
Sensei Taj Is a Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. He has competed on the professional level in MMA where he became Ring of Combat welterweight champion in MMA. Taj, under coach Joe has won amateur and professional championships in MMA and Kickboxing. He has a great spirit for teaching and is fun to learn from.
Sensei/Coach Joe is a former New York State boxer who has competed in numerous tournaments throughout the city including the New York City Golden Gloves, Empire States, and Spanish Gloves to name a few. With over 40 years of martial arts experience “coach Joe” as his students call him has competed in many tournaments and has obtained a black belt in Judo and a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu. As a kid his nickname was “Karate Joe” because of his Shotokan Karate and Kung-fu skills that he used adeptly to protect himself and those around him. He is most noted now as an elite striking and MMA coach where he has produced amateur and professional kickboxing and MMA champions. Now he is passing along his years of knowledge to his students at First Battalion MMA and Fitness.
